RTS goes to print (on fabric)!!!
Aaron Harbor and Jackie Im of Et Al Library and editors of Art Cards San Francisco came up with a great idea for their upcoming stint in the media section of artMRKT. Tote bags that advertize the great alternative spaces around the Bay Area that for one reason or another aren’t present at art fairs.
Here is the design for the tote, RTS is in great company!
There was a great turn out for Alison Wilder and Mark Nicola’s talk earlier this week, the scene was captured with some fancy photography.
Mark gives sewing demonstration above and Alison gives a slide show below.

SIMULTANEOUSLY WITH ELIZA FERNAND, WE WELCOMED EIGHTH RTS RESIDENT HELEN HOMAN WU, AN ART CRITIC AND ENGINEER OF ART PRODUCTION VENTURE OPALNEST WHO VISITED US FROM NEW YORK.
HELEN HOMAN WU
Ritual Stories
My intimate relationship with a city lies in confronting different comfort zones- by performing personal rituals. In San Francisco, one of them is staying at the Green Tortoise Hostel and waking up early in the morning to get a view of Telegraph Hill. At Real Time Space I was asked to create a documentation of my 10-day curatorial residency in Oakland and San Francisco. In this condensed period, I decided to do a survey to get to know the local artists or residents in a short amount of time, but also to break the ice. Inspired by a comment that Emma Spertus (RTS) had made after observing the numerous rituals that I instinctively act out, I was curious to know what others’ rituals were. I asked 10 people in the Bay area, most of them were either artists affiliated with RTS or part of the art scene. I came to realize that every person performs some sort of ritual in order to be grounded, and naturally as a basic human behavior.
