HISTORY
Real Time & Space was founded in March 2011 by Emma Spertus and Mark Taylor. Emma and Mark secured a 5 year lease on a 5500 sq ft warehouse in Oakalnd’s Chinatown, where they reconfigured a commercial print shop to be an art studio space with a large common area and woodshop. Recognizing the surplus of space and the affordable rent, the newly named Real Time and Space, immediately launched a residency program dedicating one of it’s 16 studios as a permanent residency studio.
